Jagan reverses decisions in sixth list

In less than two weeks of reshuffling the constituencies of the candidates in Chittoor, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reversed his decisions.

In the sixth list of candidates announced on Friday night, Jagan brought back Chittoor MP N Reddeppa to his original place and continued deputy chief minister K Narayana Swamy in his GD Nellore assembly segment.

On January 20, Jagan swapped the seats of these two leaders on the ground that surveys predicted their defeat in their respective constituencies.

Jagan, however, played his caste cards well, accommodating BCs, Kapus and Setti Balijas in key constituencies.

For Rajahmundry MP seat, he has chosen Guduri Srinivas, a Setti Balija candidate; and for Narasapuram LS seat, too, he has picked up another Setti Balija candidate, Uma Bala, an advocate.

For Guntur Lok Sabha seat, considered to be a Kamma bastion, the YSRC chief selected Ummareddy Venkata Ramana, a Kapu candidate and son of senior leader Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu.

As expected, Jagan dropped sitting Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad, who revolted against the party. In his place, he chose a BC candidate Tirupati Rao Yadav.

For Yemmiganur assembly seat, Jagan has made yet another change. Earlier, he dropped sitting MLA K Chenna Kesava Reddy and gave the ticket to Machani Venkatesh, but now, he changed the candidate again and gave the ticket to Butta Renuka, who is also a BC (Padmashali).

For Nellore (city), Jagan picked up deputy speaker Md Khaleel, as sitting MLA P Anil Kumar Yadav has been shifted as Narsaraopet MP candidate.

Jagan also swapped the constituencies of two other MLAs - Anna Rambabu of Giddaluru and K Nagarjuna Reddy of Markapuram. Now, these MLAs will move to each other's constituency.
