Jagan opens oral red book, threatens to strip cops

YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has virtually opened a “open red book,” and warned of stringent action against the police officials who are toeing the line of ruling Telugu Desam Party and filing false against his party leaders.

“I was told a circle inspector behaved arrogantly saying nobody can do anything to him, as he is going to retire shortly. Don’t think that you will get away by filing false cases against our leaders. Names of all such officers are being noted,” he said.

He warned that such officers will be brought back even if they retire and are living beyond seven seas.

“I will get them disrobed and expose them,” Jagan threatened while speaking to media after calling on former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who is in judicial remand in Vijayawada central jail.

Jagan asked the police not to be complicit in the government’s injustices and warned them of severe consequences if they do.

He advised them to uphold their integrity, stating that excessive actions would be punished by God and the people.

“The TDP will not be there in power forever. Once my party returns to power, we shall take action against officials involved in injustice. Instead of working for the TDP leaders, salute the three lions on their caps, representing their allegiance to the constitution, rather than political figures,” he said.

Jagan refuted claims that YSRCP leaders attacked the TDP office in Gannavaram. Instead, he alleged that the attack on the YSRCP office happened first.

He stated that on February 20, 2023, TDP leader Komareddy Pattabhi visited Gannavaram on the orders of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Before his visit, Pattabhi provoked tensions by calling Vamsi a "psycho kid" and claiming he would personally settle the issue. Pattabhi and his associates first verbally abused Vamsi and later led an attack on the YSRCP office.

Jagan said that in retaliation, YSRCP leaders went to the TDP office, leading to clashes. He pointed out that cases were filed against both parties, but Vamsi was not involved in the violence.

Even in a police statement given by Satya Vardhan, an employee at the Gannavaram TDP office, Vamsi's name was not mentioned. However, Jagan accused Chandrababu Naidu of forcing Vardhan to sign a blank paper to file a complaint against Vamsi.

Jagan argued that the entire case was a political conspiracy and claimed that it was the TDP leaders, not Vamsi, who kidnapped Vardhan.
