Notwithstanding the interim order given by the Andhra Pradesh high court suspending the state government’s order to go in for fresh tenders on the Polavaram hydro power project and Polavaram project authority (PPA)’s objections over the same, YSR Congress president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided not to budge.
Jagan is learnt to have told the officials to explore the possibility of going in for an appeal to the division bench of the state high court challenging the interim order given by the single-judge bench.
However, it is not clear whether the government will wait till the single judge bench delivers its final judgement or go for an immediate appeal.
The officials reportedly advised Jagan that there might not be much use if single judge bench order is challenged in the court, since there are no additional points with the government to argue. But Jagan is no mood to listen, sources said.
On August 22, the State Water Resources Department called for the re-tenders for Polavaram Project Concrete works (1771.44 Crore) and Hydel Project (3216.11 Crores) as total one Package of 4987.55 Crore Rupees.
On the same day, the High Court has given a verdict to stall the re-tendering process.
Even though the stay is only on Hydel Project, the entire process got stalled as the tenders for both the works are floated as a single package.
