Jagan Not In A Hurry To Appoint New TTD Chairman

It appears YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is not in a hurry to appoint new chairman and other members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The two-year tenure of the TTD trust board headed by senior YSRC leader and Jagan’s maternal uncle Y V Subba Reddy came to an end on Monday.

Though it was expected that Jagan might extend the tenure of Subba Reddy for another term, nothing of that sort has happened.

Instead, the Jagan government on Wednesday issued an order abolishing the trust board altogether. Instead, it appointed a specified authority in place of the trust board to administer the Tirumala temple affairs.

While TTD executive officer K S Jawahar Reddy will be the chairman of the specified authority, joint executive officer Dharma Reddy will be the deputy chairman. The specified authority would function till the new trust board is appointed, the order said.

It appears Jagan wants to take his own time in appointing the new chairman and members of the TTD trust board. There has been a lot of competition among the YSRC leaders for the TTD chairman post.

“If Jagan wants to continue Subba Reddy as the TTD chairman, he would have issued orders to that effect immediately without waiting for his term to come to an end. So, he might be having plans to replace Subba Reddy with somebody else,” a party leader said.
