Retired IPS officer and former Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Chief A B Venkateshwara Rao, who faced criminal cases and alleged intimidation during Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime, now appears to be on a mission of revenge.
The current Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government, headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, has dropped all cases filed against ABV and reinstated his salary and perks.
Though Naidu even offered him the post of Chairman of the AP State Police Housing Corporation, ABV declined the offer.
It seems he has other plans — possibly political ambitions. While he has not publicly declared his next move, his recent social media activity suggests he is preparing to launch a large-scale campaign against Jagan.
A few days ago, ABV posted a poster featuring his photo and the caption: “The spectre of Jagan Mohan Reddy is still haunting Andhra Pradesh”, along with the slogan “Jagan, Never Again.”
On Saturday, he shared another poster asking, “Who will save the state from the shadow of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s venomous hood?” — again signing off with “Jagan, Never Again.”
These posts have sparked fresh political debate in the state. Referring to Jagan as a "ghost" and repeating the slogan "Jagan, Never Again" signals that ABV may be preparing to take an active role in Andhra politics.
According to sources, ABV is planning to visit Janipalli Srinivas Rao, popularly known as "Kodi Kathi Sinu" — the man accused of attempting to assassinate Jagan in October 2018 with a rooster knife at Visakhapatnam airport. The visit is scheduled for Sunday at 2 PM at Sinu’s residence in Mummidivaram, Amalapuram.
Later, ABV is expected to visit the Bala Yogi Samadhi and hold a press briefing in Amalapuram.
Sources suggest that ABV may soon reveal his future plans. While some believe he may formally enter politics, others say he could become a vocal critic and campaigner against Jagan in the upcoming elections.
