Jagan Mulls Strategic Reshuffle In Third List

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is contemplating a reshuffling of candidates for Assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections.

As part of this process, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) held consultations with legislators on Saturday to prepare the third list, following the release of the first and second lists featuring 38 names.

Sources suggest that Jagan Mohan Reddy intends to prioritize the social engineering concept, similar to the strategy employed in the 2019 elections, where a majority of seats were allocated to Backward Classes (BCs).

In an effort to consolidate support from BCs, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and minorities, the Chief Minister allocated 17 out of 25 Cabinet berths to these communities.

Presently focusing on Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, Anantapur, NTR, and Palnadu districts, Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to release the third list in the coming days.

Notably, the Mangalagiri Assembly seat, won by BC candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in 2014 and 2019, has been assigned to Ganji Chiranjeevi, another BC, as the coordinator.

In Prakasam district, talks have been held with MLAs Anna Rambabu and Maddisetti Venugopal, exploring various equations. Additionally, discussions on the Ongole MP seat are ongoing, considering potential political alliances.

For the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha seat, Jagan Mohan Reddy is contemplating fielding a BC candidate in line with his social engineering concept. If this plan doesn't materialize, former MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy may be considered for the seat.

In response to Jagan's proposal for him to contest from Guntur Parliament seat, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu expressed his unwillingness, citing his extensive work and strong supporter base in his current constituency.

Further discussions and scrutiny are underway for segments in Nandikotkur, Kovvur, Pendurthi, Chintalapudi, Chodavaram, Aaluru, Kurnool, Gudur, Singanamala, and Gopalapuram.
