Jagan launches direct attack on judiciary!

Putting an end to his shadow boxing with the judiciary, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday launched a massive tirade against the state high court, accusing it of trying to destabilise his government in collusion with Supreme Court judge N V Ramana under the directions of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan wrote a strongly worded letter to SC chief justice S A Bobde pointing out how the high court judges under the directions of Justice Ramana, were giving a series of biased judgements against his government and stalling various decisions of his government including the three capitals plan.

He alleged that the state judiciary is biased towards the TDP and its interests in the nature of the orders passed staying investigation, staying enquiry, and the rest, at the admission stage itself.

“The high court judges have been entertaining a series of writ petitions against the government’s decisions in order to protect the vested interests in Amaravati,” he said.

Since his government had initiated a probe in January 2020 against the TDP government’s misdeeds between 2014 and 2019, Justice Ramana started influencing the judiciary in the state through chief justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari.

He went to the extent of charging Justice Ramana with influencing the roster of high court judges so that important matters of policy and protection for Naidu’s interests were posted before a few judges including Justice A V Sesha Sai, Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy, Justice D V S S Somayyajulu and Justice D Ramesh, who were favouring the TDP.

He pointed out how each judge entertained PILs seeking to protect the interests of the TDP such as Amaravati land scam, medical scam involving former minister K Atchan Naidu, illegal construction of Naidu’s river front residence, Ramesh Hospitals issue, three capitals plan, distribution of house sites to the poor and Dammalapati Srinivas issue.

He even alleged that one of the judges Justice Somayajulu had lacked ethical standards and indulging in acts of impropriety in favouring Navayuga Engineering of which he was a legal advisor in the past and finding fault with the special investigation team and cabinet sub-committee findings on insider trading of lands in Amaravati.

He further charged the state high court of having animosity towards his government and him personally as was evident from making allegations of telephone tapping, humiliating the Director General of Police by summoning him to the court in connection with the arrest of TDP chief in Visakhapatnam and entertaining petitions against YSRC MLAs for alleged violation of Covid-19 guidelines.

Jagan requested that the Supreme Court chief justice take appropriate action against N V Ramana and the judges of high court who favoured the TDP.
