Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken swift action in response to the incident involving the deportation of Telugu students from America.
On Saturday, he directed officials to promptly gather comprehensive information regarding these students and expedite the resolution of their predicament. He emphasized that, if necessary, officials should reach out to the Ministry of External Affairs for assistance.
The CM's response came following reports that 21 Indian students from the Telugu states were being deported back to India after US Customs and Border Protection authorities at airports in Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco detected discrepancies in the documents carried by these students. The deported students are reportedly stranded at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has also instructed the AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) to investigate the matter and work towards a solution.
The society's president, Venkat S. Medapati, advised students to contact helpline numbers +91 863 2340678 and +91 85000 27678 (WhatsApp), which are available 24/7, or send emails to [email protected] or [email protected].
Venkat stressed that possessing a valid visa does not guarantee entry into the USA. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the point of entry must also be satisfied with the documents individuals are carrying before granting entry into America.
He further noted that students who have been deported can seek assistance from APNRT Society, a government entity specializing in overseas education admission and counseling processes, pre-departure orientation, post-arrival services, long-term tracking, and more.
The president of APNTRS advised students and their parents to avoid falling victim to deceptive education consultants and other agencies and instead choose reputable organizations.
