It appears to be more or less certain that YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to reshuffle his cabinet, showing the door to at least three ministers in his present cabinet.
Jagan openly hinted at the sacking of some of the ministers during the interaction with his colleagues after the cabinet meeting, according to reports coming out from Tadepalli.
The chief minister reportedly pulled up some of the ministers for not mending their ways despite repeated warnings.
“I have been keenly observing all the ministers and assessing their performance. I know who is doing what and I will not hesitate to sack a few of them. Be prepared for the action,” Jagan is learnt to have told them.
He took serious note of the Telugu Desam Party fielding a candidate in the MLC elections under MLAs’ quota, though it had no adequate strength to win the seat.
“It is the responsibility of the ministers to see that we shall win all the MLC seats comfortably. If there is any difference in the winning margin, you will have to face the repercussions,” he reportedly warned.
Jagan’s warning sent a hush talk within the council of ministers as to who are likely to face the axe during the reshuffle.
According to party sources, the chief minister is learnt to have decided to sack three ministers at least and it might even go up to four or five.
The names of state information and public relations minister Chelluboyina Venugopala Krishna and state roads and buildings minister Dadisetti Raja are doing rounds for the time being as the possible victims.
“Another minister from Rayalaseema might also be sacked. If necessary, Jagan might drop two more ministers, depending on the performance and charges of corruption at the ground level,” sources said.
It is learnt Jagan is planning to induct Thota Trimurthulu, Kavuru Srinivasa Rao and Marri Rajasekhar into the state cabinet, in place of the three ministers to be sacked. If he wants to drop a couple of more, then they would be replaced by fresh faces.
