Jagan gets into action mode, creates ruckus

YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has got into the action mode right from the day one of the state assembly budget session to attract the attention of the people.

It is a sort of repetition of what the Telugu Desam Party led by N Chandrababu Naidu had done during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government – coming to the assembly wearing black flags, holding placards and entering into a confrontation with the marshals and the police on the assembly premises.

Jagan and his party MLAs obstructed Governor Abdul Nazeer’s address to the joint session of the assembly and council and raised slogans against the government for the alleged failure of law and order in the state. Later, they staged a walk out of the House.

Earlier, Jagan along with his party MLAs and MLCs came in a procession from the fire station to the state assembly wearing black badges and scarves, besides holding placards with slogans “Save Democracy.”

However, they were intercepted by the police at the assembly gate. The police snatched and tore the placards and papers held by the YSRCP MLAs and MLCs. Jagan confronted the police, questioning who had given them such authority.

The YSRCP legislators expressed intense displeasure at the behaviour of the police at the Assembly gate.

Jagan stated that the police's heavy-handedness would not persist forever and issued a stern warning for them to remember their duty to protect democracy, not to undermine it.

Highlighting the insignia of lions on police caps, Jagan stated that they symbolize the protection of democracy, not its destruction.

He questioned the police's right to seize and tore the papers held by the MLAs and MLCs, demanding accountability for their actions.
