As expected, YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has fulfilled the condition of senior party leader and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana, who was elected unopposed as the member of the state legislative council from the local bodies' quota in Visakhapatnam district.
On Wednesday, Jagan appointed Botsa as the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. This announcement was made by MLC Lella Appireddy, who is in charge of the party’s central office and had been till now acting as the LOP in the council.
Appireddy extended his congratulations to Botsa on his victory in the MLC elections, stating that the loyalty and dedication of the ZPTCs, MPTCs, and local body representatives to the party’s leadership ensured Botsa Satyanarayana's success.
Earlier in the day, Botsa took oath as the newly-elected member of the state legislative council. He was administered oath of office by Legislative Council chairman Koyya Moshen Raju.
Before taking oath, Botsa met Jagan, who congratulated him for getting unanimously elected as MLC. Botsa expressed his gratitude to the party president for making him MLC and the LOP.
Several leaders attended the meeting, including MLC Kumbha Ravibabu, MLAs R. Matsyalingam, Vishweshwar Raju, Visakhapatnam ZP Chairman Jalli Subhadra, former ministers Kurasala Kannababu, Gudivada Amarnath, Budi Mutyala Naidu, Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, and Karumuri Nageswara Rao.
