Jagan cabinet to decide on capital shift?

The Andhra Pradesh state cabinet, which is meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday morning under the chairmanship of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to finalise the schedule for the forthcoming budget session of the state assembly.

But what is keenly watched by everybody is whether the cabinet would take a call on the approval of the revised three capitals bill, which is learnt to have got the legal nod from the experts. Once it gets the cabinet clearance, it would be introduced during the budget session of the assembly.

The cabinet is also likely to discuss the time for shifting of the chief minister’s camp office to Visakhapatnam, irrespective of the decision by the Supreme Court on the special leave petition filed by the state government challenging the high court order on Amaravati last March.

“In all probability, Jagan will disclose his mind on shifting the CMO to Visakhapatnam and commencing the operations in March. He has taken the decision after getting the legal clearance from experts,” sources said.

The chief minister will also give a direction to the ministers to make the forthcoming Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) to be held at Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4 a big success. The cabinet will discuss the arrangements to be made for the summit.

The cabinet will also take a call on other important decisions like approval of the proposals discussed at the state investment promotion board, allotment of a captive berth for Jindal Steel at Ramayampatnam port, setting up of model schools, increase of retirement age for employees in government corporations and residential schools, etc.
