Believe it or not, YSR Congress party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's advisor R Dhananjay Reddy travelled on an average around 500 km a day in a single month of April.
According to a report published in Andhra Jyothi, Dhananjay Reddy submitted a travel bill to the department for payment of Rs 2,67,282 for the month of April, 2024.
The bill states that the vehicle -- Toyota Innova (Registration No. AP16TG 0001), with a CMO sticker -- travelled for a distance of 14,962 km, which means it covered a distance of 498.7 km a day on an average. In fact, on a particular day, it travelled for a distance of 591 km.
Since the vehicle is displaying the meter, it is assumed that it must have definitely travelled for such a distance. But the question is why Dhananjay Reddy had travelled for nearly 500 km a day non-stop every day and for what purpose.
Dhananjay Reddy is not a politician, but an advisor to the government. His job was to attend his duties in the Secretariat or at the most, in the CM camp office. So, on average, he would have to travel only 25-30 km a day, not 500 km a day.
Secondly, being on the rolls of the government, Dhananjay Reddy was not supposed to use his official vehicle for party work when the model code of conduct was in force in April.
Enquiries revealed that Dhananjay Reddy was in Tadepalli only most of the time and didn't travel anywhere during April.
So, who would have travelled in his vehicle? The log book has the details of the distance travelled every day, but not who had travelled in it. This has created a suspicion about the misuse of the official vehicle for party purposes.
Since the vehicle has a CMO sticker, no police official would dare check it wherever it travelled. The TDP leaders are suspecting that it might have been used for transporting cash.
They are demanding a probe into misuse of such official vehicles by the YSRCP during the elections.
