Remember how people of the entire country took to clapping at 5 pm on March 22 as a symbolic gesture for fighting against Coronavirus pandemic, following a call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi?
Andhra Pradesh is going to re-enact the same gesture at 7 pm on Friday, following a call given by state chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. If the call is followed, millions of people across the length and breadth of the state will do clapping for five minutes.
Reason: the Jagan government wants the people to give a symbolic appreciation for completion of one year of the Village Secretariat concept launched by the chief minister exactly on October 2 last year, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
Conveying the message of the chief minister, state panchayat raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy asked the people to come out their houses at 7 pm on Friday and clap their hands for five minutes in appreciation of the services being rendered by the employees of Village Secretariats.
“I request all the people in the state to take part in this noble programme and make it a grand success. It will give a big boost to the village secretariat employees who have been rendering wonderful services to the people,” Reddy said.
He said the concept was launched to bring the administration to the doorsteps of the common man. As many as 543 services were being provided through these village secretariats as part of providing a corruption-free administration in the state.
“Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Central cabinet secretary also lauded the village secretariat concept,” the minister claimed.
