Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, senior TDP leader and the long-standing finance minister for the TDP-led government in the united Andhra Pradesh and also the residuary Andhra Pradesh, had called for financial emergency in the state.
It was a surprise that the man who is equally responsible with Chandrababu Naidu to the present financial crisis in the State, is shifting the blame on the seven-month old YSR Congress government.
The State started with a little over Rs 16,000 crore revenue deficit and a little over Rs 90,000 crore debt when it was bifurcated on June 2, 2014.
Chandrababu Naidu government started the new journey for the residuary state on June 8, 2014 in which Yanamala Ramakrishnudu was the finance minister. The revenue deficit continues to be the same and the debt had gone up to Rs 2.25 lakh crore during Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, as the finance minister, period that ended on May 23, 2019.
The state left the office buildings in the common capital in 2015 and came to Vijayawada paying highest rents. Yanamala, as finance minister, paid these bills.
The employees were asked to come to Amaravati, an unborn city, and the government paid for their accommodation and Yanamala, cleared those bills.
The state hosted three unsuccessful investor summits in Visakhapatnam, paying huge bills towards travel and accommodation besides venue and Yanamala cleared the bills. Yanamala should answer what investment did the State get after paying so much.
There were a number of foreign tours in the last five years, some for investment mobilisation and some for state promotion. As finance minister, Yanamala paid those bills from the State exchequer, without asking his boss what was achieved in return.
The farmers were promised many things. The farmers of the capital villages were promised several other things. The unemployed youth were promised either job or stipend. The poor were promised free and subsidised meal. Yanamala paid for all these bills and should tell us what was achieved for the state in return.
Having paid so many bills for nothing in return, Yanamala is trying to point an accusing finger at the seven-month old Jagan Mohan Reddy government for the mess that he himself had created.
