Institutions ready to begin activity in Amaravati!

Now that the Telugu Desam Party-led National Democratic Alliance came to power in Andhra Pradesh again, all hurdles have been more or less cleared for developing of Amaravati as the capital city.

TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has already started negotiating with various investment firms and institutions, who had earlier withdrawn from Amaravati during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, to return to the capital city to start their establishments there.

A couple of days ago, prominent management institute – XLRI-Xavier School of Management, has announced establishment of its institute at Thullur in Amaravati at an investment of Rs 250 crore.

The XLRI, based in Jamshedpur, was allotted 30 acres of land in the past. In March 2019, the institute laid the foundation stone for XLRI Amaravati, its new campus in Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, as many as 45 central government offices are going to revive their activity in Amaravati from Monday. These central government institutions were also allotted land by the erstwhile TDP government between 2015 and 2019.

“Some of these institutions have already begun negotiations with the AP Capital Region Development Authority for handing over the lands allotted to them after clearing all the bushes and shrubs in the area,” sources said.

In all, 135 public and private organisations were allotted lands in Amaravati during the previous TDP regime. But they all backtracked after Jagan came to power in 2019 and dumped Amaravati capital city project.

In fact, the Jagan government proposed to cancel the land allotments made to some of these institutions, but backtracked later after they threated to move the courts. Now, they are all evincing interest in reviving their projects, sources said.
