The BJP national leadership has been silent on the latest manifesto of the so-called alliance partners of the NDA in Andhra Pradesh, while its local leaders have virtually disowned it.
While releasing the manifesto at his residence, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the manifesto was endorsed by the BJP and it was prepared after taking suggestions from the BJP leadership.
However, senior BJP leaders like former chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao and former Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao openly declared that the BJP had nothing to do with the manifesto released by Naidu for the upcoming elections.
Krishna Rao said the manifesto released by Naidu and Pawan Kalyan was totally impractical and non-implementable.
“It is impossible to implement the promises made by Naidu in the manifesto,” he said.
In the same breath, Krishna Rao declared that some of the promises made by YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy were also not practical and cannot be implemented.
Stating that the BJP manifesto released at the national level was realistic, the former chief secretary said the manifestos of Jagan and Naidu were far from reality.
“The BJP kept itself away from the TDP manifesto only because the promises made by Naidu cannot be implemented at all,” he said.
Krishna Rao warned that if Naidu wants to implement his promises, the state’s economy will collapse completely within six months.
“In 2014, too, the BJP incorporated several suggestions in the manifesto, but withdrew the same following the suggestions of the national leadership,” he said.
On the other hand, GVL Narasimha Rao also said the manifesto released by Naidu was that of the TDP and Jana Sena Party and the BJP had nothing to do with it.
He expressed displeasure at the way the TDP and Jana Sena had ignored the image of Modi during their election campaign.
