The YSR Congress party has hired the services of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) headed by Rishi Raj Singh to work out the winning strategies for the party.
The I-PAC played a major role in the selection of candidates for the elections and drafting the slogans and overall campaign methodologies for the party, besides designing the mode of public outreach by party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
So far so good. But according to reports in a section of media, the I-PAC teams are said to be dictating terms to the YSRCP candidates on how to go about with the campaign, how to distribute money and other gifts among the voters, which areas they should visit and how to make use of the services of volunteers in attracting voters.
Normally, these candidates have their own ways of approaching the people, depending on the voters’ profile and they differ from place to place and village to village. Nobody knows better than the candidates on how to attract voters.
But sources said the I-PAC teams are giving a particular blue print to the candidates and asking them to follow the same. They are providing them with the data of the voters and suggesting them how to distribute money among the voters.
“This is ridiculous. How can an outsider tell us what to do and what not to do in the election campaign? Do these teams know better than us about our own voters?” the candidates are said to be asking.
However, they are not able to say anything, as these I-PAC teams have direct access to the boss – Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his core team. So, they are forced to follow the I-PAC suggestions, the reports said.
