The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is preparing to take action against YSR Congress Party leader and former Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy for allegedly launching a smear campaign by claiming that 100 cows died at the Sri Venkateswara Goshala run by the TTD.
TTD Trust Board member and BJP leader Bhanuprakash Reddy has filed a complaint with Tirupati Superintendent of Police Harshavardhan Raju, demanding action against Karunakar Reddy for making baseless allegations against the TTD. A case is likely to be registered against the YSRCP leader on Tuesday.
However, Bhumana stood by his allegations and said he was ready to face any kind of inquiry to prove that cows had indeed died at the TTD Goshala.
“I’m not afraid of any threats as I have done nothing wrong,” he asserted.
In a surprising remark, Bhumana claimed that nearly 2,000 employees within the TTD act as his informants.
“They are my eyes and ears — they inform me within seconds if anything wrong happens in the TTD,” he stated.
He pointed out contradictions in the statements made by officials: TTD Executive Officer Shyamala Rao reportedly said 43 cows had died, while TTD Chairman B R Naidu claimed the number was 22 — both conflicting with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s statement that no deaths occurred at the Goshala.
Bhumana challenged the authorities to prove that the photos he released of dead cows were morphed. Swearing by God, he insisted the images were genuine and said he was willing to undergo any investigation.
He accused the Chief Minister, EO, and Chairman of providing inconsistent figures and failing to handle the matter with transparency, questioning their accountability.
He also criticized the TTD administration for dismissing the deaths as age-related, asserting that the photos he shared were of young cows and calves.
Further, he alleged that TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu threatened him with multiple criminal cases across the state, to which he responded that he was ready to face legal action — even imprisonment — in defense of devotees’ sentiments.
