I am not in race for Prez polls says K A Paul

At a time when the political atmosphere in the country is hotting up ahead of the Presidential elections, maverick evangelist K A Paul has provided the much needed coming relief to all sections of people.

Stating that the opposition parties in the country need to remain united and field a strong candidate against the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Presidential elections, Paul said he was not in the race for the country’s highest post.

“The opposition parties might be seriously thinking of fielding a common candidate for the Presidential elections, but nobody is interested. Even those senior leaders whose names were discussed are not keen on contesting. Even I am not interested in being a candidate for the Presidential elections, as I don’t want to be on the losing side,” Paul said.

The evangelist said there should be unity among the opposition parties, if they want to fight against the BJP.

“Unfortunately, it is because of the lack of unity among the opposition parties, the BJP has grown stronger,” he said.

Paul claimed that he was heading a Save Secular India Front which comprises as many as 18 parties. There are four such fronts for the Presidential elections.

“I discussed with Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on fielding a candidate in Presidential elections on behalf of Save Secular India Front,” he claimed.

Interestingly, the maverick evangelist also claimed that he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to discuss the presidential election issue.

“I suggested a neutral and non-controversial person to contest the Presidential elections,” he said, adding that in such a case, the BJP candidate would win with 60 per cent of votes.

He said he had also discussed the present financial position of the country with Modi and Shah.

“I told them that the country’s financial position is in shambles and suggested to them that they should hold an Economic Summit,” Paul added.
