Hyd: Owners of Posh Mokila Villas Feel Cheated

Dozens of posh villas in Mokila remain flooded for the second consecutive day, forcing people to stay indoors. Residents are relying on volunteers to arrange for medicines and other groceries, including milk.

In some gated communities, waterlogged roads, submerged cars, and people walking through knee-deep water have become a common sight. LA Paloma Villas and Westend Greens are the most affected.

Water from multiple locations has flowed into LA Paloma Villas with no exit channels, while nearby fields have flooded Westend Greens.

The residents of these affected communities have decided to submit a representation to the government, highlighting their plight despite paying hefty taxes.

Residents of LA Paloma Villas blame the adjacent villa projects for the situation.

"The surrounding communities have built walls blocking the free flow of water. Additionally, the under-construction project next to our society is also contributing to the problem," said a resident of LA Paloma Villas.

Raja Chandra Gajula, president of the society, urged the authorities to address the issue as a priority. While HMDA officials said the irrigation department should handle waterlogging issues, the irrigation officials placed the responsibility on HMDA.

A resident from Westend Greens criticized the BRS government for neglect.

"Mokila was projected as a futuristic city when they auctioned the government land here, but the monsoon has exposed the lack of infrastructure. At the very least, this government should come to our rescue," he said.

"As this is a developing area, there are no markets nearby. We are coordinating through WhatsApp groups, while some people have volunteered to go out and bring essentials and medicines for everyone,” said a resident of LA Paloma Villas.
