How to implement Super 6? Naidu in dilemma

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu came to power in the recent elections along with his alliance partners – Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party by promising Super Six guarantees to the people.

Out of these six guarantees, Naidu could implement only one guarantee – enhanced pension for various beneficiaries.

With regard to other guarantees, there has been absolute silence from the new government, though it is more than 45 days since it was formed.

Naidu has released a white paper on the state financial position, blaming it on the previous YSR Congress party government for messing up the finances.

But that is no excuse for the people who are eagerly waiting for the promises to be fulfilled – like Talliki Vandanam, post-matric and pre-matric scholarships, Rythu Bharosa, financial assistance to women etc.

Against this backdrop, the state cabinet is meeting on August 2 to discuss the budgetary allocation for these promises.

The cabinet will also finalise the proposal for issuance of notification for Mega DSC to fill up teachers’ vacancies.

The cabinet might also discuss the promise of providing free bus travel for women and also on the continuance of village/ward volunteers’ system.

There is a demand from the sarpanches’ association to do away with volunteers’ system, but Naidu had promised to continue them with enhanced remuneration.

Similarly, the cabinet might also decide on the implementation of the promise of supplying three gas cylinders to women free of cost.

It would also take a call on free sand supply scheme and remove the loopholes, sources said.
