Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy on Thursday made a strange allegation against YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He told reporters in Anantapur that the YSRC leadership was bringing pressure on him and his family members to quit the TDP and join the YSRC.
“We are being targeted by the ruling party by implicating us in false cases. They are forcing us to join the YSRC saying if we do so, we won’t be troubled with cases,” he alleged.
He also accused the YSRC of harassing him and some other party leaders financially and psychologically.
“See, how they are targeting Chintamaneni Prabhakar, former TDP legislator from Denduluru in West Godavari district? Every day, he is being implicated in one case or the other and thrown into jail,” Diwakar Reddy said.
The former MP sought to know why the RTA authorities were seizing only buses belonging to Diwakar Travels and sparing other private travels which were violating the RTA rules.
“Jagan is targeting select individuals and intimidating them. This is going to be intensified in the coming days,” he alleged.
Well, being an opposition leader, it is nothing but natural on the part of Diwakar Reddy to criticize the ruling party and cry foul for being targeted.
But the question here is why would Jagan bring pressure on Diwakar Reddy and his family members to join the YSR Congress party?
What additional benefit the YSRC would get if Diwakar Reddy joins the party?
The party is already strong in Anantapur as was evident from the way it had won all the assembly seats, except Uravakonda and Hindupur, besides the two MP seats.
What is the need for Jagan to lure defeated TDP leaders, especially troublesome leaders like Diwakar Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy and invite further troubles to the party?
The YSRC definitely does not need leaders like JC brothers who had created enough headache for Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in the last five years.
