Former minister Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, a key figure in the Bobbili royal family from Vizianagaram district, represents the current generation of politicians from his dynasty.
He was elected as an MLA three times from Bobbili and served as a minister in the previous Chandrababu Naidu government.
However, he was not given a ticket for the 2024 elections, and instead, his younger brother, Baby Nayana, was selected to contest.
Although there was speculation that Ranga Rao might run for the Vizianagaram MP seat in the Lok Sabha elections, this did not materialize.
With this, Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao’s political trajectory appeared to take a pause.
In the second phase of nominated post appointments, he was given the role of AP Forest Development Corporation Chairman. It is unclear whether this role carries cabinet rank.
Nevertheless, there is considerable debate over whether it is appropriate to grant a nominated post to Ranga Rao, who previously held a cabinet rank as a minister in significant departments.
There were also discussions about his potential appointment as an MLC. His supporters and followers believe he may still be considered for significant roles in the upcoming elections.
Whether this appointment is viewed as a promotion, demotion or merely a gesture of support remains a topic of discussion.
