The Andhra Pradesh state high court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of rowdy-sheeter Borugadda Anil Kumar in connection with posting of obscene and offensive comments against Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others on social media.
The court questioned whether the accused's sole occupation was to post obscene content on social media and stated that such individuals cannot be forgiven.
The prosecution informed the High Court that the petitioner, Anil, has a criminal history and that charge sheets have already been filed in two cases related to inappropriate social media posts.
They explained to the bench that Section 111 of the BNS applies in these cases. Agreeing with the prosecution's arguments, the judge opined that such accused individuals cannot be pardoned and dismissed Anil's bail petition.
During the five-year rule of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Borugadda’s anarchic behavior reportedly knew no bounds. He allegedly created an atmosphere where even the police were afraid to confront him.
Hailing from Guntur city, Anil claimed to be an aide of former Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and operated as the Andhra Pradesh state president of the Republican Party of India.
He often referred to Jagan Mohan Reddy as "Anna" (elder brother) and projected himself as someone from Pulivendula to align with the YSRCP.
Acting as Jagan’s loyalist, Anil allegedly used abusive language on social media and TV debates against opposition leaders, causing embarrassment to civil society.
During the YSRCP's five-year tenure, he was known to threaten anyone who spoke against Jagan, even claiming he would kill them.
He reportedly made inappropriate remarks about leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh, and verbally abused women from opposition parties.
At that time, using Jagan's name, Anil allegedly engaged in illegal activities and violence in Guntur city. With the backing of the ruling party, he operated without any restraint.
The police reportedly refrained from taking action against him due to his connections with Jagan.
