Gurumurthy back in Tirupati, Ongole still pending!

Sitting Lok Sabha member of YSR Congress party from Tirupati (SC) Maddila Gurumurthy, at last, got the much needed relief, as party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy retained him in the same seat.

The chief minister on Wednesday night announced candidates (party in-charges) for three assembly seats and four Lok Sabha seats, after a lot of exercise. The suspense over Ongole parliamentary seat still continues, as Jagan has decided against fielding the sitting MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy again.

Jagan has given the party ticket for the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat to Satyaveedu MLA K Adimulam in the last list and shifted Gurmurthy to Satyaveedu assembly constituency as part of reshuffle. But both the leaders were not happy with the decision.

While Gurumurthy continued lobbying for retention in Tirupati LS seat through various sources, Adimulam expressed his resentment openly and is all set to defect to the Telugu Desam Party. He and his family members met TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Wednesday.

As a result, there were no takers for Tirupati (SC) seat and Jagan was compelled to retain Gurumurthy in the same seat.

As expected, the YSRCP president allotted Narasaraopet Lok Sabha seat to former minister and Nellore (city) MLA Poluboina Anil Kumar Yadav, as part of his strategy to give one ticket to an OBC candidate in every district.

Similarly, Kakinada LS seat has been given to industrialist-politician Chalamalasetty Sunil, though he lost from the seat thrice in the past.

The Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat has been allotted to Avanigadda MLA Simhadri Ramesh Babu.

The YSRCP president has dropped sitting MLA Chetty Phalguna from Araku Valley assembly seat and allotted it to Regam Matsa Lingam, whose credentials are not yet known.

Similarly, Satyaveedu (SC) seat, which is presently represented by K Adimulam, has been given to Nookathoti Rajesh, another new comer.

The party ticket for Avanigadda assembly seat has been given to Dr Simhadri Chandrasekhar Rao, a popular surgical oncologist of Apollo Hospitals and son of former Telugu Desam Party leader and ex-minister late Simhadri Satyanarayana.

It's perfect for meditation
