For the last couple of days, Telugu television channel TV9 has been campaigning on the social media platforms that its website TV9telugu.com has reached No. 1 position among the Telugu digital media as per the viewership in May 2021.
The TV9 group claimed that its Telugu website has 16.53 million views, followed by News18Telugu (13.97 million), Sakshi.com (13.73 million), Samayam (of Times of India group) (13.16 million), Eenadu (12.39 million), Greatandhra.com (2.03 million), Andhra Jyothy (1.83 million) and BBC Telugu (1.16 million).
The TV9 group said the sources for arriving at the above figures were: Comscore, Mobile Matrix, Key Measures Report and Mobile Web only, based on a custom list of Telugu language publishers, total UVs and total digital population.
Well, it would have been better had TV9 group projected the overall global rankings of the Telugu websites using authentic Google Analytics or Alexa certified rankings, instead of projecting figures based on such sources.
Going by the latest Alexa certified rankings, Eenadu.net stands No. 1 among the Telugu websites with a global ranking of 1,055, followed by Sakshi (1,168), Greatandhra.com (1,182), Andhra Jyothy (1280), gulte.com (2,366). And TV9’s global ranking is 10,969.
In terms of rankings only in the US, greatandhra.com stands at the top among the Telugu websites with a ranking of 1,683, followed by Eenadu (2,850), gulte.com (3,441), Andhra Jyothy (5,751) and Sakshi (6,237).
So, it is for the readers to judge!
