Former minister and TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao had sent his resignation to the AP Assembly Speaker Thammineni Sitaram on Saturday.
He said he had resigned following the Central government’s decision to privatise the prestigious Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
As the momentum is slowly picking up in the state against the Central government’s decision, Ganta Srinivasa Rao grabbed the opportunity to resign.
However, while sending his resignation to the Speaker, the former minister laid a condition for acceptance.
Ganta Srinivasa Rao wanted the Speaker to consider and accept his resignation only after the Central government finalised the privatisation process.
Anyway, the resignation letter was not in the Speaker format, to be accepted and the speaker will have little to do with it.
He had said that he was sending his resignation ‘in protest’ against the privatisation of the RINL (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant).
He wrote a separate letter to the Speaker requesting him to accept his resignation only after the privatisation process completed.
