Floodwater Level Rises Again in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The floodwater that had receded in colonies and areas affected by the overflow of the Budameru stream has started rising again due to increased inflows since Thursday night.

On Friday, the water level in areas such as Ajith Singhnagar, Kandrika, and Payakapuram rose by two to three feet, after floodwaters had receded over the past two days.

As the floodwaters re-entered homes and inundated colonies, residents who had returned to their homes on Thursday were forced to evacuate once more on Friday.

Additionally, floodwaters from the Budameru stream reached Rayanapadu village, submerging the Rayanapadu railway station and the tracks. Homes in the village were also flooded as the water re-entered the area.

In response, authorities intensified relief and rehabilitation efforts, distributing food, water, and essential supplies, including free ration kits, to the affected residents.

Meanwhile, power supply was restored in most areas where the water had completely receded.
