Flood threat to Naidu's house once again!

Flood threat to Naidu's house once again!

Come monsoon season, more than anybody, it is Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who feels threatened by heavy floods to Krishna river.

Every time there are heavy inflows into Krishna river at Prakasam barrage, the revenue authorities of Vundavalli serve eviction notices to all the inhabitants on “karakatta” (river bank), including Naidu.

And the TDP chief relocates himself to Hyderabad, which is a safer place for him, and operates the party from there, causing a lot of inconvenience to the party leaders and cadre with his remote style functioning.

This time, too, Naidu’s residence on karakatta at Vundavalli is facing threat of inundation in floods again.

The irrigation department authorities have already started sending alerts to the revenue department about heavy inflows into the river.

At present, the authorities are partially lifting all the gates of Prakasam barrage to let the river water into the downstream.

But if there are heavy inflows into the river, which is quite possible in the next few days, the authorities will have to lift the gates completely or store water in the barrage.

If the river gates are lifted completely, it will result in inundation of several villages in Krishna delta region up to Avanigadda, causing huge loss to lives and crops.

If the gates are lifted partially, it will result in submergence of constructions on the Vundavalli river bank.

So, as a precautionary measure, the authorities serve notices on the residents of Karakatta well in advance.

Though the issuance of notices has not yet begun, they may do so in a couple of weeks and Naidu would have to move to a safer place in Vijayawada or go to Hyderabad.

Apart from Naidu, owners of another 36 constructions on the river bank would have to be evacuated to prevent damages to the lives and properties.

This would be the third consecutive year, if Naidu has to vacate his house due to flood threat.
