Five TDP MLAs suspended for AP assembly

Five TDP MLAs suspended for AP assembly

Five Telugu Desam Party MLAs were on Monday suspended from the rest of the budget session of the state assembly, following a pandemonium they have created in the House over alleged mass deaths in Jangareddygudem due to consumption of adulterated toddy.

The TDP members disrupted the proceedings of the state assembly and stalled the debate on budget, demanding that the assembly take up discussion on Jangareddygudem deaths.

The government did not agree for the same and state health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Nani said he would make a statement in the House. This led to a pandemonium in the House.

With TDP members storming the podium and tore the budget papers on Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, the situation turned serious, forcing the Speaker to announce suspension of five members – K Atchannaidu, G Buchaiah Chowdary, Payyavula Kesav, N Rama Naidu and D Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy – from the House for the rest of the budget session.

The TDP members refused to leave the House, stating that they were only insisting on a debate on an issue of public concern. They wondered how they would be suspended for demanding a debate.

They continued to raise slogans, as a result of which the Speaker asked the marshals to evict them. The marshals physically lifted the TDP MLAs and sent them out.

Since morning, the assembly was adjourned twice over the Jangareddygudem issue, as the TDP members created ruckus in the House. They even climbed the podium to corner the Speaker.

YSRC members including minister Kodali Nani and Nagari MLA R K Roja lashed out at the TDP members for their unruly behaviour.

They said the TDP had no moral right to talk about the prohibition, as it was Chandrababu Naidu who had diluted the prohibition introduced by the N T Rama Rao government.
