First step begins in Amaravati capital city!

The first step in the revival of Amaravati capital city of Andhra Pradesh by the Nara Chandrababu Naidu government began on Wednesday with the clearing of the dense jungle that has grown in the entire region in the last five years.

Last week, the Naidu government finalised the tenders for clearing of the bushes and trees.

Hyderabad-based Nagajuna Constructions Company Ltd (NCCL) bagged the Rs 30.80 crore contract, beating the Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited by quoting lesser price.

On Wednesday, NCCL contractors began clearing of thick bushes and trees on a war-footing basis. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) fixed a deadline of 30 days for clearing the capital region of the jungle.

State municipal administration and urban development minister Ponguru Narayana formally commenced the works by operating the JCB.

“In all, dense jungle has grown in 58,000 acres. This will be cleared by multiple teams of the contracting agency within a month,” he said.

Once the jungle is cleared, there will be a clear picture on the layouts of returnable plots allotted to farmers. Because of these jungles, they could not identify their own plots so that they could take up construction or sale of the plots.

The bushes and trees that have grown all around the government complex and trunk infrastructure zones, besides land pooling infra zone, would have to be cleared first so that construction activity can pick up pace.

This exercise will also result in laying of fresh roads, which were dug up during the previous Jagan regime.

“In another two months, one can witness hectic construction activity in Amaravati capital region,” the minister said.
