Telugu Desam Party has always been waiting for issues to take a dig at the YSR Congress party leaders obviously to get political mileage. And it has been finding one issue or the other every day to target the ruling party.
On Friday, TDP got one such opportunity to take a dig at firebrand YSR Congress party leader and newly-appointed minister for tourism and culture R K Roja, who has virtually become a thorn in the flesh of the TDP.
TDP MLC Manthena Satyanarayana Raju demanded that Roja tender an unconditional apology to the people for her husband R K Selvamani damaging comments on Andhra Pradesh.
He was referring to a statement made by Selvamani, who happens to be the president of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) a couple of days ago, that asking the Tamil producers not to shoot films in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad.
Selvami said many Tamil star heroes like Ajith are shooting their films in the Telugu states, while the cinema employees in Chennai are losing work. He said Tamil Nadu has all the resources to conduct shootings.
The TDP legislator said what moral right Selvamani had to call upon the film industry not to hold shootings in the Andhra. He said Selvamani's remarks clearly intended to harm the image of the State in the country and outside.
“While Roja was promising to develop tourism, her husband was passing negative statements. How could tourism get a boost without attracting film shootings and outside visitors?” he asked.
Raju said that Roja was not able to restrain her own family members from making statements that were detrimental to the interests of the State. Could Roja do any justice to the people in her capacity as the Minister when she could not prevent her own husband from making anti-AP comments?
He alleged that Roja was solely interested in doing heavy make-up to make public appearances. If she gave at least one percent of this attention to tourism development, it would have yielded some results by now. From tourism to health to home, all sectors were destroyed because of the YSRCP Ministers' failures.
