Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s inconsistent stand on any issue just to gain political mileage is forcing his loyalists to quit the party one after the other.
On Monday, yet another senior TDP leader from Guntur and former chairman of Andhra Pradesh state minorities commission Mohammad Ziauddin resigned from the party in protest against the style of functioning of Naidu.
Ziauddin, who is the brother of former TDP MP Lal Jan Basha, wrote a letter to the TDP chief saying that he was disgusted with the way the latter was playing politics in the name of caste, religion and region.
“This kind of politics wilk sound death knell to the party,” he said.
Stating that his family had served the TDP with utmost loyalty, Ziauddin said he was feeling uncomfortable with the party leadership taking a complete U-turn on several issues after losing power.
“It has pained me and all the other party leaders having individuality a lot,” he said.
The senior leader alleged that Naidu had tried to create a communal divide by kicking up a controversy over the alleged desecration of temples.
“Now, he is trying to create a wedge among the communities, taking advantage of the arrest of rebel YSR Congress MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju,” he said.
He said the TDP chief was creating unrest in the society by making an issue out of the arrest of Raju who resorted to unconstitutional methods.
“I wonder why Naidu is writing letters to everybody protesting Raju’s arrest and lobbying for the latter in Delhi. It clearly shows he can go to any extent for power,” he said.
Stating that it would be suicidal for anybody to continue in the party, Ziauddin said Naidu would never undergo any transformation.
“I cannot continue in the party which is founded on the policies of conspiracies, backstabbing and power mongering,” he observed.
