It has been almost five years since Andhra Pradesh former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu started efforts to make the BJP high command friendlier towards him. However, things haven't moved in his favor.
Despite indications suggesting that Chandrababu may join the NDA, the BJP high command doesn't trust him for several reasons.
One reason is that they haven't forgotten the kind of attack he launched after leaving their alliance in 2019, just before the elections.
Moreover, up until now, he hasn't criticized the Congress on any occasion. We see YSRCP leaders criticizing the Congress and Rahul Gandhi on various issues.
However, Chandrababu has never criticized the Congress, raising suspicions about his relationship with that party and his potential disloyalty to the BJP, which could surface at any time in the future.
For these reasons, the BJP doesn't believe in Chandrababu Naidu. This lack of trust is causing delays in forming an alliance or having the TDP join the NDA.
