It has been a long time since one has heard about former Telugu Desam Party minister from Vizianagaram district – Padala Aruna.
She has been in a virtual political oblivion since she had quit the TDP in 2021.
On Tuesday, Aruna suddenly emerged from exile and declared that she would be joining Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan soon.
She said under the present circumstances, Andhra Pradesh needs the leadership of Pawan Kalyan.
Aruna, a three-time MLA from Gajapathinagaram assembly constituency in Vizianagaram district, recently met Pawan Kalyan and expressed her interest to join the Jana Sena, along with her family members and followers.
She announced that she would formally join Jana Sena at the Varaahi Yatra of Pawan Kalyan to be held at Visakhapatnam on August 10.
Stating that she was impressed with the thoughts and decisions for the youth and womenfolk, Aruna said she would work in coordinate with the Jana Sena leaders and cadre in the constituency.
The former minister had been associated with the TDP right from its inception in 1983.
She had won the assembly elections thrice from Gajapathinagaram and was a minister in Chandrababu Naidu cabinet between 1999 and 2004.
Aruna contested the assembly polls for the last time in 2009 and the lost the seat. In the subsequent elections, Naidu did not give her ticket.
She had been keeping away from the party activities since 2019 and quietly resigned from the party in 2021.
She alleged then that she had not been given any recognition despite being associated with the party for 33 years.
She regretted that she was not given a post in the party state committee. Since then, she has been out of politics.
Aruna is hopeful that she might get back her past glory in Jana Sena. She is expecting the party ticket to contest the assembly elections in 2024.
