Ex-MLA Rosaiah quits YSRCP, may join Jana Sena

In yet another setback to the YSR Congress party, former MLA Kilari Venkata Rosaiah from Ponnuru in Guntur district resigned from the party.

He sent his resignation letter to party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that he was quitting the party for personal reasons.

Rosaiah who had won the 2019 assembly elections from Ponnuru constituency by defeating Telugu Desam Party leader Dhulipalla Narendra, was forced to contest as the YSRCP candidate for Guntur parliamentary seat.

In fact, he was made the party in-charge of Ponnuru, but was shifted to Guntur Lok Sabha seat at the last moment. But he lost miserably to TDP candidate Pemmasani Chandrasekhar with a huge margin.

Since then, Rosaiah has been keeping away from the party activities.

On Wednesday, he held a meeting with his party leaders and decided to quit the YSRCP to look for better opportunities.

According to sources, Rosaiah has contacted Jana Sena Party leadership to get entry into the party. It is learnt he got the approval from the party and only after getting the clearance, he resigned from the party, sources said.

Another former MLA of YSRCP from Guntur Maddali Giridhar, who had defected from the TDP after 2019 elections, is also planning to join the Jana Sena Party. But, so far, no decision has been taken by the YSRCP so far.
