Ex-DGP of Telangana forced to move to AP!

Three senior IPS officers, including former Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar, now have no option but to pack their bags and relocate to Andhra Pradesh to serve the remainder of their careers.

On Friday, the Union Home Ministry issued a directive affecting IPS officers Anjani Kumar, Abhilasha Bisht, and Abhishek Mohanty, who are currently serving in Telangana.

The directive orders their immediate transfer to Andhra Pradesh, instructing them to report to the Chandrababu Naidu-led government within 24 hours.

These officers were originally allocated to Andhra Pradesh following the bifurcation of the state, but they continued to serve in Telangana after approaching the tribunal.

However, they lost a prolonged legal battle both in the tribunal and the Supreme Court, leading to their forced reassignment.

Currently, Anjani Kumar, a Director General (DG)-rank officer, serves as the DG of Road Safety. Abhilasha Bisht, also a DG-rank officer, is the DG of Police Training. Abhishek Mohanty, an SP-rank officer, serves as the Commissioner of Police in Karimnagar.

Despite previous instances of IAS officers being transferred from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh, these IPS officers had continued in Telangana. However, the latest central directive now mandates their immediate reassignment to the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
