YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s upcoming visit to Papireddypalli in Ramagiri mandal — considered the stronghold of the Paritala family — has taken on serious political overtones.
The visit is intended to console the family of party activist K Lingamaiah, who was killed in a recent clash in the village. However, the situation has escalated politically after the YSR Congress accused TDP supporters of being behind the murder.
Lingamaiah was beaten to death during a confrontation between two families, but YSRCP leaders claim the incident was politically motivated. Party in-charge T Prakash Reddy directly accused Rapthadu MLA Paritala Sunitha of instigating the violence.
As reports suggest that Jagan Mohan Reddy will be accompanied by thousands of party supporters from the erstwhile Anantapur district, police are on high alert.
Permission has been granted for Jagan to land by helicopter near Nyamaddala village, about three kilometers from Papireddypalli.
Satya Sai district SP V Rathna has instructed the YSRCP to limit the number of people accompanying Jagan on his visit.
“Strict action will be taken against any violations,” she cautioned.
Meanwhile, TDP leader Paritala Sunitha clarified that neither the government nor her party is opposed to Jagan's visit.
However, she urged him not to deliver any provocative remarks, emphasizing that the issue stemmed from a personal feud between two families, not political rivalry.
In preparation for the visit, additional police forces have been deployed in Ramagiri mandal and along the route to Papireddypalli to prevent any untoward incidents.
