ED Admits To Have Seized Cash, Docs From NRI Academy

The Enforcement Directorate had admitted that its forces have seized cash and important documents from the NRI Academy of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri in Guntur district.

The ED officials have conducted raids on the Academy premises for two consecutive days in the first week of December.

The ED took up the issue following a case registered by the AP Police under money laundering Act against some individuals in the NRI Academy.

The ED said that they have also collected crucial information from some individuals during the raids and some supporting documents were also seized.

The ED found that some officials have diverted the funds of the Academy for construction of buildings.

There were no bills for the money collected from the Covid 19 patients, the ED said and also found that some individuals have collected huge amounts of money from the students for MBBS admissions.

The officials found that the collection of money from the students was more than what was shown in the Academy’s account records.

It was also found that they have floated NRIAS Private Limited company and diverted the Academy funds.

The ED officials said that they have collected information and seized documents related to these violations which would come under the money laundering Act.
