Drone politics turn dirty in Andhra!

At a time when several villages along the course of Krishna river and also in the delta region are still struggling from floods, the Telugu Desam Party has still been indulging in dirty politics over flying of two drones for a few minutes by the irrigation department last Friday.

The TDP wants to make maximum political mileage from the episode by going to the extent of suspecting a big conspiracy behind the drone-flying over the riverfront residence of party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, may be to assassinate him.

A delegation of TDP leaders led by party MPs lodged a complaint with Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, alleging a deep-rooted conspiracy behind flying of two drones over the residence of Naidu. They also decided to move the high court seeking probe into the whole conspiracy.

However, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Gautam Sawang said there was no need to politicize the episode and there was no conspiracy behind the same.

He said the drones were operated by the irrigation department on the banks of Krishna river to assess the flood situation and submergence threat to the constructions on the bund.

He, said it all happened due to a communication gap between the irrigation department and the police department.

The irrigation department authorities should have informed the local police and take prior permission well in advance as flying of drones in high security zone is not permitted, he said.

Reacting to the TDP’s petition, YSR Congress MLA Jogi Ramesh accused the TDP leaders of playing politics over floods.

“There is no need for the YSRC to hatch any conspiracy to kill the TDP president. The people of Andhra Pradesh have already buried Naidu through their mandate. He would not get even the 23 seats if elections are held now,” he said.
