Dream to become CM of Andhra: Jagan

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the 3,000 km-long Praja Sankalpa Padayatra that he has undertaken will give people a "sense of hope".

Reddy, speaking at the India Today Conclave 2019, said he wants to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh as he wants to "stay alive after death".

"I have a dream to become CM of Andhra Pradesh and the very purpose for that is I want to stay alive after death. For that I need to do so much good to the people. Padaytra transforms you into something different that gives you hope that you want to do something," Reddy said.

Speaking about his position in politics at a national level, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said he does not see himself in politics at a national level and that both the national parties, Congress and BJP, have done nothing for Andhra Pradesh.

On special status for Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said their only demand was a special category status for the state. "We are sick and tired of trusting people. They promise but not deliver. We are keeping our options open," he said.

Speaking about 15 cases filed against him, including a disproportionate assets case, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that there were no cases against him when his father was alive.

On joining the Congress, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the party has evaporated from Andhra Pradesh. We don't need them. It is the Congress that needs us," Reddy said on the second day of the India Today Conclave.

"Our interest is clear. We are not against Rahul Gandhi or any other leader, but we have lost trust. We now want to keep our options open, he added.

On airstrikes by the Indian Air Force in Balakot, Jagan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi did score a point. "The Prime Minister exhibited a strong political will which made a difference," Reddy said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said as a representative of Andhra Pradesh, both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi stabbed him. "The Prime Minister deprived Andhra Pradesh of the special category status. He didn’t honour his commitment. And Congress shouldn’t have bifurcated the state," Jagan Reddy said.
