Don't talk about Viveka murder, court tells Sharmila

A local court in Kadapa on Thursday issued interim orders, refraining Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila and other opposition leaders not to talk in public or issue statements with regard to the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy five years ago.

The judgement came as a big relief to YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his cousin Y S Avinash Reddy, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Kadapa.

The court named Sharmila, Viveka’s daughter N Sunitha, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, TDP candidate from Pulivendula B Tech Ravi and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeshwari as respondents in a petition filed by the Kadapa district YSRCP leaders.

The court issued notices to the respondents, asking them to submit their counters by April 30 and issued injunction orders on speaking about the Viveka murder case till then.

The court observed that Sharmila, Sunitha and others were propagating and making derogatory and defamatory remarks against the YSRCP, the chief minister and Avinash Reddy; more particularly Avinash Reddy describing him as a murderer of Viveka during the ongoing election campaign.

The judge said they should not spread any such comments through print, electronic and social media platforms, as the case is pending before the CBI Court, Nampally, Hyderabad for adjudication.

The court also asked the respondents to remove all the objectionable remarks previously made by them against YSRCP, Jagan and Avinash on all the media platforms.

It directed that they should maintain restraint and also ask their cadre not to make any personal attacks since the case is pending before the court.
