Did Jagan discuss early polls with Modi?

The meeting of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evoked a lot of curiosity in the media.

The meeting was not scheduled well in advance; it appears it was decided only a day before. It was just a half-an-hour quick meeting and so, Jagan might have definitely discussed some important issues with Modi.

Officially, there would be same old statement from the government stating that Jagan had discussed issues like financial constraints, more borrowings, dues from Telangana and the Polavaram issue,

But it is speculated that there is more to the meeting than what meets the eye.

There is a talk that Jagan might have sought the advice of the Prime Minister on going for early elections in the state so as to consolidate his position and overcome any little anti-incumbency that might be prevailing in the state.

Of course, Jagan later met Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman, apparently to make request for additional borrowings by the state for the welfare schemes.

He is also expected to meet Union home minister Amit Shah later in the evening to discuss the three capitals issue and also the clearance for Disha Bill pending with the Centre for a long time.
