If the CBI court gives its nod, former minister and presently YSR Congress party legislator from Srikakulam Dharmana Prasada Rao will face criminal prosecution in connection with his alleged role in the Vadarevu And Nizampatnam Ports and Infrastructure Company (VANPIC) Pvt Ltd involving industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad.
The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a petition in the court seeking permission to prosecute and question former minister Dharmana Pradad Rao with regard to allegations of favouring VANPIC.
The CBI reminded that the Supreme Court had upheld the earlier directives of the CBI's court in considering cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act putting high court's orders aside.
"It is against this backdrop that Dharmana can be prosecuted, " the CBI told the court.
However, CBI Special Court Special Judge BV Madhusudhan Rao asked the CBI to ascertain the extent to which the Dharmana's petition filed in Apex Court has come. The CBI was asked to submit the details of the case.
On the other hand, CM Jagan Reddy will attend the Hyderabad CBI court in person on Friday in the disproportionate assets case.
