Despite apology, no relief to Sri Reddy?

Despite tendering an unconditional and public apology by controversial actress and YSR Congress party supporter Mallidi Sri Reddy for posting vulgar and abusive content on social media platforms against families of Telugu Desam Party leaders and their alliance partners, cases continued to be filed against her in various police stations.

On Thursday, three more cases were filed against Sri Reddy – one in Visakhapatnam, others at Rajahmundry and Anakapalli. Additional cases are also being pursued by various party leaders for her inflammatory remarks.

The Town-II police at Visakhapatnam registered a case against her based on a complaint filed by TDP women activists, for her posts against chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and home minster Vangalapudi Anitha.

Similarly, another case was registered against Sri Reddy at Bommuru police station in Rajahmundry based on a complaint filed by TDP functionary Majji Padmavati, alleging that the actress posted derogatory and abusive comments on social media sites.

Padmavati alleged that Sri Reddy used filthy language and abusive comments against the family members of TDP leaders in her videos and posts. Police have registered a case under various sections of BNS and IT Act.

Similarly, another case was also booked in Anakapalle against the actress.

Meanwhile, YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister and state Congress president Y S Sharmila stated that those who post obscene content on social media or create inappropriate videos should not be let off, even if they apologize.

Indirectly addressing the apology by Sri Reddy, Sharmila emphasized that arrests of individuals posting vulgar content should be viewed from a societal perspective rather than a political one.
