Delhi liquor scam accused makes it to TTD board!

Hyderabad-based businessman and director of Aurobindo Pharma Penaka Sarath Chandra Reddy has made it to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board, which was reconstituted on Friday evening.

Sarath Chandra Reddy, who happens to be the brother of YSR Congress party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy’s son-in-law Rohit Reddy, recently turned approver in the Delhi liquor scam case, after taking approval from a Delhi court.

Sarath Chandra Reddy is one of the accused in the high-profile case and according to Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, he was a key player in masterminding South Group to obtain retail business in Delhi.

The ED also alleged that Sarath Reddy controlled entities that owed over Rs 60 crore to the Indo Spirit Group.

On November 11, 2022, ED officials arrested Sarath Chandra Reddy in Delhi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) but was let off on temporary bail which was later converted into full-time bail after he turned an approver.

In all, there are 24 members in the TTD trust board, including three MLAs – Ponnada Venkata Satish Kumar, Samineni Udaya Bhanu and M Tippe Swamy.

Other prominent people on the board included: YSRCP general secretary and former MLC Meka Seshu Babu, Krishnamoorthy Vaithyanathan of Athena Power projects, MLC Y Sivarami Reddy, R Venkata Subba Reddy, Gadiraju Venkata Subba Raju, Rami Reddy Samula etc.
