Shaik Dastagiri, one of the killers of former minister and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy five years ago, has been issuing statements that he is facing a threat to his life from YSR Congress party MP from Kadapa Y S Avinash Reddy and others.
But strangely, Dastagiri is also targeting Jagan’s sister and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila and Viveka’s daughter Dr N Sunitha, who are raising the issue of Viveka murder repeatedly and accusing Jagan of shielding Avinash Reddy and others.
In fact, Sharmila and Sunitha have not made any statement against Dastagiri so far and their prime target is Jagan.
In the ongoing electioneering, Sharmila and also Sunitha have made Viveka’s murder as the main election issue and are appealing to the people not to vote for the perpetrators of the murder.
Of course, the Telugu Desam Party leaders including party president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and the party candidate for Pulivendula B Tech Ravi are also raising the Viveka murder issue for political gains in the elections.
On Wednesday, Dastagiri filed a petition in the state high court seeking to refrain the TDP, Sharmila and Sunitha from repeatedly raising the issue of Viveka’s murder in their election campaign.
He particularly found fault with Sunitha for making a power-point presentation in Hyderabad on the Viveka murder episode, at a time when the model code of conduct is in force. He opposed Sharmila’s speech at Kadapa targeting Jagan on the Viveka murder case.
Dastagiri also strongly criticised the “yellow television channels” – ABN Andhra Jyothy, TV5 and ETV, for repeatedly telecasting the news pertaining to Viveka murder.
He also wrote to the Election Commission of India to take stringent action against Sharmila, Sunitha, Naidu, Lokesh and B Tech Ravi.
Normally, Dastagiri should not have had any objection, because all these days, his prime target was also Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskar Reddy. But now, he has started resisting Sharmila, Sunitha and the TDP leaders.
This has led to the talk as to whether Dastagiri has taken any U-turn on Avinash Reddy and his family in the recent past.
He has already turned an approver in the case and gave a statement against Avinash Reddy, but why he is targeting Sharmila and others still remains a mystery.
