It’s troubled times for the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh.
Even as the arrests of senior TDP legislator Kinjarapu Atchen Naidu and former MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy are creating panic in the party, two other senior leaders – Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa have got into trouble.
A Dalit woman has lodged a complaint with East Godavari superintendent of police against Yanamala and Chinna Rajappa, both former ministers in the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet, alleging that they had interfered in her married life.
She alleged that both the TDP leaders had attempted to get her husband married to another woman.
In her complaint, the woman said she had a love marriage with Radhakrishna, son of former TDP legislator Pilli Ananta Lakshmi nine years ago and had given birth to two children.
However, for the last few months, Ananta Lakshmi had not been allowing her son to meet his wife because the latter happened to be a Dalit.
As a result, the woman lodged a complaint with Indrapalem police station on March 10 against her in-laws. The police booked a case under SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act.
In the early hours of Friday, Ananta Lakshmi made an attempt for a second marriage to Radha Krishna, at A V Nagaram of Tondangi mandal, the native of Yanamala, where all arrangements were made.
The second marriage was attended by Yanamala as well as Chinna Rajappa. However, the marriage could not take place as the first wife approached the police who stopped the arrangements.
The episode took an interesting turn with the woman lodging a complaint with the police stating that Yanamala and Chinna Rajappa had helped Ananta Lakshmi in the second marriage of Radha Krishna, who was trying to get rid of the first wife.
She demanded that action be taken against Radha Krishna and those who were helping him, so that justice would be done to her.
