The residence of TDP president and former Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu at Vundavalli on the banks of Krishna river, which was facing a demolition threat from the authorities last year, is once again back in the news on Monday.
The authorities of irrigation department once again served notices on Naidu along with 32 other residents on the banks of the river (karakatta) stating that they are facing flood threat and it would be better for them to vacate them at the earliest.
Heavy discharge of water upstream has bloated the river and flood water is fast approaching the houses on the banks, posing a submergence threat.
According to relief commissioner, the inflow at Prakasam barrage in the Krishna river, a couple of kilometres away from Naidu’s residence was more than seven lakh cusecs.
The relief commissioner had cautioned that those on the river banks, both above and below Prakasam barrage might face submergence and hence, they should move to safer places.
Naidu and his family members had already left for Hyderabad on Friday itself and the authorities pasted a notice on his residence asking him to vacate.
Though Naidu was asked to vacate the house last year itself, its owner Lingamaneni Ramesh had moved the court and obtained a stay order. This time, too, the authorities are asking the TDP chief to vacate the house.
“You might have got relief from the courts and protected your house from being demolished. Courts might have saved you, but floods won’t spare you, Mr Naidu,” YSRC leader and advisor to the chief minister Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy tweeted.
He suggested that at least now, Naidu should honour the laws and vacate the guest house which was illegally constructed and move to another residence.
